Welcome to my site! I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself.
My name is Annie and I’m an American citizen living with my fiancé Ricky and our rescue dog Sherlock in Johannesburg, South Africa. For those who don’t know, South Africa is one of the most beautiful and diverse countries in the world. We have mountains, rivers, beaches, coastal plains, savannah, subtropical thickets, marshland, gorges, lakes, arid flatlands, wetlands, waterfalls, giant reefs, sandy dunes, oceans (yes, two!) at our fingertips. And that’s just the beginning.
I made a few trips to SA before moving here permanently in May 2015. An active person myself, with a passion for good wine and food, I was a bit uncertain where to turn for quality advice on places to hike, run and cycle, all while feeling safe and comfortable. Don’t get me wrong – South Africa is not a scary place – but it is always good to be cautious!
That’s why I’ve started this site. I will share my experiences in food, wine, and the great outdoors. I hope to provide accurate and useful information on trails, routes, restaurants, bars, wineries, places to stay and destinations to put on your bucket list. If you’ve just moved here, are planning a trip to South Africa, or want to live vicariously through me, you’re very welcome to Run, Ride and Wine!
